Jalysa King

Jalysa King was born and raised in Merrillville, Indiana, and moved to Indianapolis for college. She is a proud two-time IUPUI graduate with two degrees in Communication Studies. Jalysa’s time in Indy has been full of rewarding experiences which all reflect her multifaceted personality. From her days working in radio, sales, research, and now higher education, each piece has shaped who she is. While she has many interests, she has found a love for the higher education setting and working with students.

During the day, you can find Jalysa working with the Indiana School of Medicine and AHEC as their Program Outreach Manager. She loves to write and has had the honor of contributing to platforms such as Huffington Post, Elite Daily, and Indy Maven.

Jalysa is a published author and released her first children’s book “When I Grow Up I Can Be Anything” this past March. (Check it out on Amazon!) She finds joy in writing about the tough stuff in hopes to create a dialogue that leads to a sense of belonging and community. She believes our hard times can help us help others; and her thought is that we all have a story to share, and there’s so much power in vulnerability and shared experiences.
